November 12,
2008/Iowa City, IA: Cindy Penney began her new role as Vice President
of Nursing at Mercy Iowa City on November 3, 2008.
Penney says nursing has been the perfect career choice for her.
“I love being able to help people in the ways that nurses
do,” she says. Penney adds that it has been her longtime goal
to work in a community- and faith-based hospital.
Penney received her bachelor of arts degree in nursing from Luther
College and her master’s degree in nursing administration
from the University of Iowa College of Nursing. While in the College
of Nursing, she received the Sally Mathis Leadership Fellowship.

clinical, administrative and management positions at University
of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
“We are very pleased to welcome Cindy Penney to Mercy,”
